What is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is similar to the EEG scan with the exception that the treatment helps to rearrange the signals from the brain. Children who undergo neurofeedback training learn how to regulate activity in their brains, which can alleviate symptoms of many pediatric neurological disorders.

How Much Do Neurofeedback Services Cost?

While WeMind Institute accepts most medical insurances to cover the cost of most diagnosis and treatment services, we only accept out-of-pocket payments for neurofeedback treatment. The cost of your neurofeedback treatment will start with a $300 quantitative EEG, that may be covered by insurance, followed by $60 per neurofeedback session. Our patient coordinator will review your coverage and explain any other out-of-pocket costs that may incur, such as co-payments, deductibles and co-insurance.

How Does Neurofeedback Work?

Neurofeedback is not intended to cure the underlying condition. Rather, it helps children learn how to manage the symptoms of their neurological conditions. If you are interested in taking on a more holistic approach to your child’s treatment, neurofeedback may be right for you. The treatment has been proven to improve many neurological symptoms, especially for children suffering from ADHD. Dr. Vasconcellos may recommend neurofeedback as part of a comprehensive treatment plan for your child.

What Happens During the Neurofeedback Procedure?

Neurofeedback training is recommended two times per week for up to 20 weeks. As a neurofeedback specialist, Dr. Vasconcellos’s expert staff administers the training and oversees the results and how your child does during the session. Electrodes are attached to the scalp to detect brain activity. Your child watches a series of images or listens to music. The system monitors brain activity and provides electrical feedback to the brain that reorganizes the pattern.
